Construction of a bypass railway around the city of Nis

Description: In the subject area, geotechnical investigations and laboratory tests were carried out in order to define the conditions for the construction of a bypass railway around Nis. The railway line from Nis to the border with the Republic of North Macedonia represents a very important connection between the countries of Southern Europe and the rest of Europe. It is part of the Pan-European Corridor X.

Railway Corridor X, which includes international routes E-70 and E-85, passes through Nis, connects Paris with Istanbul and Budapest with Athens. The construction of a bypass railway would ensure the relocation of goods transportation from the city center with electrification. This solution can potentially contribute to the further development of the city of Nis and the area around Nis.
